Aisulu is an Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining CMU, she was a Kavli Nanoscience Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at the California Institute of Technology. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University. Aisulu received her M.S. in Chemical Engineering Practice from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan.

Ph.D. Student

Kyle obtained his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Washington, where he conducted research on plastic chemical recycling under the guidance of Professor Julie Rorrer. Outside of research, Kyle enjoys exercising, playing magic the gathering, watching anime, listening to music, and putting as many animals into his pockets as he can while hiking.

Ph.D. Student

Lia got her bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and chemistry from Vanderbilt University, where she conducted research under the supervision of Professor Lauren Buchanan. Her research focused on studying proteins with infrared spectroscopy. In her free time, she loves playing and listening to music, reading, and cooking with friends and family.
